The Power of Positive Affirmations to Change Your Life!

Let’s face it. Life can be hard. Living in a society that sees color and money before it sees talent and character can feel like a non-stop uphill battle. Just getting through each month when there’s not enough paycheck or hours is exhausting. It takes a lot of fortitude and ambition to succeed. And it takes a lot of attitude - although maybe not the kind of attitude you are thinking of.

I’m talking about your inner attitude. I’m talking about the ability to find the positive, feel the gratitude, build the dreams, and make them reality. I’m talking about raising your vibration in a total mind-shift toward a life of positivity, which sets you up to attract all the abundance, love, success, and happiness you deserve no matter where you are standing now.

Yes, I said ‘deserve’. You are perfect just as you are created, by whatever force or deity you believe in, and as such, you are deserving of all the wonderful things that life can offer, no matter who you are or what you may have done. That doesn’t mean that you can’t grow and improve, it simply means that you are exactly where you are supposed to be at this moment. You are beautiful, strong, and deserving.

In the next moment, you may choose to respond or to act in an infinite variety of ways, and those choices and the thoughts you hold about them will mold your reality. Our beliefs are infinitely powerful, we attract whatever we focus our attention on. Thoughts become things.

For example, if you are yearning for love, and consistently focus on the lack of love in your life or on how you’ll never find love or whatever other sorrowful rhymes you tell yourself, you are pushing that love ever further away. You want love, and so you have attracted it, your perfect person is just waiting for you to stop believing he will never come, so that he can be able to come to you. It’s that simple. As soon as you start believing that love WILL come to you and that you are deserving of any one of the many great potential partners out there, guess what - your love will walk through the door.

You can’t just give lip service to this positive mindset, though. You need to think in a new direction, you need to believe - truly believe - that you will manifest the life you want, and you need to make the choices, one at a time, to embrace the positive, feel the gratitude, and reach for the joy.

One of the best tools for changing your mindset attitude is positive affirmation. Affirmations are phrases or words that you repeat to yourself, to reprogram your brain and uplift your mood. Using affirmations can re-route the pathways of your thinking into more positive channels. Some examples of affirmations include:

  • I love you, (say your name)
  • I have a healthy body, tranquil mind and a vibrant soul.
  • I forgive myself and set myself free
  • I am beautiful and radiant and successful in everything I do.
  • I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.
  • My true love is on his way to me now.

The variations are limitless.

Set aside some time each day, perhaps first thing in the morning, to focus and repeat your affirmations. There is a fee app called 'Cup of Love' that pushes daily affirmations to help you stay on track with magnetizing the desired of your heart to you. Be regular with your practice of repeating the key phrases that will help you reprogram your brain to achieve a state of flowing abundance and happiness. This practice will help you weather the challenges of the world around you. You will find that you are more able to meet each day with a great attitude, no matter what comes at you.

Elements of a Strong Positive Affirmation

Affirmations are great tools to reinforce whatever you want to work on, but there are a few important elements of a good affirmation. Research has shown that in order for affirmations to be effectively processed by our human brains, they need to be repeated on a regular basis and should have 3 key elements:

1. They must always be in the present tense
I have a healthy body,
NOT
‘I will have a healthy body’,
2. They must always be a positive message
‘I have enough abundance to pay all my bills’
NOT
‘I won’t have to worry about paying my bills any more’.
3. They must be spoken as statements of truth, using words like ‘am’ and ‘do’ NOT ‘will’ and ‘could’.
‘I am a wise and loving parent’
NOT
‘I will try to be a better parent’

A Step Further

Once you have mastered the art of using positive affirmations to make your own life better, think about the possibilities of working together with others to bring about positive change in our families, communities, and our nation. In our society, we are surrounded by negative messages of poor understanding and false assertions and there has never been a greater need for people to work together to counteract that flow of harmful messaging and behavior. Imagine if we began to turn the power of our minds to working together to solve problems and help each other. Imagine.

The human mind is a powerful force, and you only have to choose to put it to work for you to make your life better, one positive thought at a time. Don’t expect the whole ship to turn around overnight, you will be reprograming your brain and it will take some effort on your part. But if you want to make the most of the life you have by pushing the envelope of success and happiness, give yourself the best gift possible - a new and positive attitude.

Imagine. Affirm. Repeat.
